French Cottage, [circa 1860’s] Akaroa. One of the original French Settlers cottages, built of local Banks Peninsula Totara pit sawn timber, quaint, and warm. ‘Loved and cherished by all that stay, the old history and tranquillity, so easy and so central to enjoy’. The cottage is really suited for 2 couples. The cottage is situated 15 Rue Balguerie, just off the main Rue Lavaud, 50mtrs up from the museum and BNZ bank. It is a short walk to the supermarket, visitors centre, restaurants, Dalys wharf and the main beach, so very central to walk ever where on your stay.

The walking tracks are very close, with many great walks up Settlers and historic L’Aube hill, the Garden of Tane, the main wharf, and to the other end of the township it is a 10min walk.
St Peters Anglican church is directly opposite, the cottage is so much appreciated by wedding parties, with use of the front veranda for photos is pretty special.
The cottage has two queen size bedrooms downstairs, a loft bedroom upstairs with four single beds.
Separate lounge/dining and old world cottagy kitchen, with modern appliances.
The cottage has one shared good sized bathroom, with bath/shower/toilet/hand basin and washing machine.
‘’The Grapery’’ is the outside fun enjoyable informal country style lounge. Draping the frontage is one of the 1st original French rose grape vines that were planted in Akaroa back in the 1860’s. The Grapery everyone loves to enjoy on those balmy Akaroa nights with an outside barbecue to use, fun times by all. Importantly it has great shade and shelter on the wet or lovely warm sunny days.
Rear of the cottage, is the driveway entrance gate, with safe off street parking, room for 2 cars is well accommodated.
