Orion, in collaboration with Christchurch City Council, has installed two public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Akaroa. One station is located at Rue Brittan, and the other is on Beach Road near the Fire Station. These chargers are available 24/7 and are free to use. To start charging, users need to create an account and order a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag at charge.net.nz.
As per New Zealand guidelines, charging cables are not provided, so you will need to bring your own, compatible with your electric vehicle. For more information about EVs or EV charging, visit the Orion website.
