Akaroa Winery

Akaroa Winery is a beautiful Mediterranean style venue, overlooking the stunning Akaroa inlet. Nestled in Takamatua Valley, the organic, family-owned vineyard is located on the north facing slopes of the lush hills of Banks Peninsula overlooking Takamatua Bay. We produce the highest quality grapes with every aspect of our growing and planting dedicated to the environment, using sustainable farming techniques. We believe that our fruit makes superior wines. We are focused on creating extraordinary age-worthy wines that express the unique characteristics of the fruit from Takamatua Valley. Akaroa Winery, situated in Takamatua valley, overlooks the beautiful local harbour. Akaroa Winery is Akaroa's first and only certified Organic Vineyard and Winery Estate. Tour the vineyard and modern wine making facility. Taste some of the many wine vintages available while touring the amazing grounds and see the "dirt to bottle" experience first hand. Marquee For Hire

Large marquee for hire within Banks Peninsula. Akaroa and Bays Lions Club have a framed marquee available for hire for all occasions. Particulary suitable for weddings and private functions. 

Details: 

  • 21m x 9m size :  hire fee $1750*
  • 15m x 9m size :  hire fee $1500*
  • 9m x 9 m size  : hire fee  $1000*

*The hire charges above are for hire in Akaroa Inner Harbour locations. For Outer Bays and Little River locations, an additional charge applies. 

*The Building Act requires a Building Consent for any Marquee of more than 100 square metres. The consent fee at March 2021 was $590 and is payable to Christchurch City Council in addition to the hire fee. Lions Club obtains the Building Consent on behalf of the hirer.

The 9m x 9m size does not require a Building Consent.

Hire includes delivery, set up, and dismantle.

If hired in conjunction with the Marquee, the fee is $200.

Okuti Hall is available for you to hire. Suitable for... birthdays, family gatherings, celebrations, picnics, club meetings, classes, workshops, fund raisers and more. The Okuti Hall is the home of the Okuti Valley Recreation and Sports Club (inc.) New members are welcome.

The Gaiety (Hall, Akaroa)

The Gaiety, Akaroa is situated in Rue Jolie, Akaroa. It contains a main hall and meeting room and full kitchen facilities. Car parking for 40, with 3 accessible parks is provided on the adjacent section. The hall is available for hire from CCC. The prices vary depending on what the occasion is. Casual bookings can be made in person at the Akaroa Service Desk, 40D Rue Lavard or through the CCC Booking Line on 03 941 8999 or 0800 800 169.

The main hall can accommodate 358 people standing and 150-160 people seated comfortably around tables. Using the hall and the fixed seating in the gallery, 250 people can be seated concert style. The supper room can accommodate 150 people standing.

Mt Vernon Lodge

Mt Vernon Lodge boasts a range of accommodation options to suit everyone, from singles, couples, or groups of up to 50 people. Pigeon Bay Church

The Knox Church of Pigeon Bay is very special, designed by the well know architect of his day, Samuel Hurst Seager CBE which reveals his influence of the English Arts and Crafts movement. The church, built with local labour using timber milled from Pigeon Bay in 1899, stands proudly by the waterfront looking up the bay. This church is a community run consecrated church and can be used for weddings, christenings and small functions.

Pigeon Bay Settlers’ Hall

The Pigeon Bay Settlers Hall was built in 1921 right on the beautiful waterfront looking up the bay to the sea. The newly refurbished Hall comprises a Main Hall with large curtained stage and wooden floor, which can seat 200, a Meeting Room for up to 40 people, and its own updated kitchen facilities. The Main Hall is ideal for wedding receptions, social  gatherings, and Art exhibitions. There is also a  room available for meetings, gatherings and musical evening which carters for smaller groups (40 people) .
